Employee Benefits – Payroll
- Full-Time Employees are paid on the last day of the month for the current month
- Part-Time Employees are paid on the 15th of the month for time worked the prior month
- If the scheduled pay date falls on a weekend, employees are paid the Monday after. If a holiday is on that Monday, then employees are paid the Friday before.

Montgomery Community College offers group term life insurance to all full-time and permanent part-time employees at no cost to the employee. The $10,000 life insurance policy premium is paid 100% by MCC. Employees may enroll by completing the Colonial Basic Life Enrollment Form and submitting to the Human Resources department upon hire. Employees must submit the form within 30 days of employment to avoid any penalty or non-eligibility status.

Sick Leave: All Full-Time staff and faculty who are actively working or on paid leave for one-half or more of the regularly scheduled workdays in any month earns annual leave. Each full-time employee earns 8 hours per month. Permanent part-time staff will accrue leave at a reduced rate based on the number of hours they are scheduled to work. Regularly scheduled to work 32 hours per week would earn 80% or 6.4 hours per month and 30 hours per week would earn 75% or 6 hours per month.
Employees may continue to build their sick time leave account and there is no cap on rollover each year. Sick leave is not eligible for payout upon termination. Sick leave may be transferred to another state agency on the creditable service employers list. Sick leave may be used to purchase service credit upon retirement. Every 20 days of sick leave can count as one month of creditable service for retirement purposes.
Annual Leave (Vacation): All Full-Time staff who are actively working or on paid leave for one-half or more of the regularly scheduled workdays in any month earns annual leave. The rate at which leave is earned is based on the length of aggregate service in the chart shown below. Permanent part-time staff will accrue leave at a reduced rate based on the number of hours they are scheduled to work. (Example: Regularly scheduled to work 32 hours per week would earn 80% and 30 hours per week would earn 75% of the chart below). Faculty members do not accrue annual leave. (Please see faculty calendar for scheduled breaks).
Employees may carryover up to 240 hours of annual leave (vacation time) to the next fiscal year each July 1st. Any hours in excess of 240 hours will be rolled over into the employee’s sick leave benefit. Annual leave (vacation) is eligible for payout upon termination.

Holidays: All full-time employees will be eligible for 12 paid holidays each year. MCC observes the following as legal holidays: New Year’s (1 day), Martin Luther King Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (2 days), Christmas (4 days). Refer to the Employee Academic Calendar for exact dates observed each year.
Funeral Leave: An employee may be granted a maximum of 3 days leave with pay for a death in the immediate family. Immediate family is defined as: Spouse, Parent, Child, Sibling, Grandparent, Grandchild. This includes step, half and in-laws.
Faculty Professional Days: All full-time faculty will have 10 paid professional days. Refer to the Employee Academic Calendar for exact dates observed each year.
Faculty Leave Days: All full-time faculty will have 16 paid leave days. Refer to the Employee Academic Calendar for exact dates observed each year.
Longevity Pay
Full-time and permanent part-time employees shall receive longevity pay for aggregate qualifying service to recognize length of service Longevity pay is an annual bonus payment once an employee reaches one of the levels below.

All full-time and permanent part-time employees are automatically enrolled in the NC State Retirement Plan. Your payroll deduction contribution is 6% and Montgomery Community College’s contribution on your behalf if currently 24.5% of your gross wages each month.

Tax Information: 1095-C Form
According to new Federal requirements, you may receive a copy of your Form 1095-C upon request. This means that Montgomery Community College is no longer required to automatically send you a 1095-C. If you would like a copy of your Form 1095-C, please access our benefits portal at Login – North Carolina State Health Plan (Click here to access e-benefits) and download your Form 1095-C electronically.
Alternatively, if you need us to mail your Form 1095-C, please contact us as noted below. We will send your form no later than 30 days after we receive your request.
If you are no longer employed by Montgomery Community College or you retired in 2025, you will receive your Form 1095-C in the mail.
